Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster is among the five Canada’s New Superclusters! The Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, Navdeep Bains, unveiled Thursday the five successful innovation proposals that will share $950 million in funding by 2022. The establishment of the hubs of industry and research is expected to grow Canada’s economy by $50 billion over the next decade and create more than “50,000 middle-class jobs.”
Hani Naguib (Director of the Toronto Institute of Advanced Manufacturing) and Goldie Nejat (Director of the Institute for Robotics and Mechatronics) are among the professors from U of T’s Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering involved in this project. The Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster will build up next-generation manufacturing capabilities, incorporating technologies like advanced robotics and 3D printing.
